While grocery shopping last week, I noticed a box with big red lettering stating "Home Paternty Test".   

Well, home pregnancy and fertility tests, etc have been around for ages, but this was a first for me.    I didn't bother to read it, but it was sitting there in the "family planning" section for $39.95.  

Have you seen these in your area?

Yes.   Walgreens sells them.

I'm sure they come with all types of warnings about the results, though.

I also do not know how valid these tests would be in a court of law.

Fascinating! I didn't know about that. That is awesome. Just ****** a lot of drama right in the bud.

Should be good for women's rights as well. A big reason for a lot of repression of women throughout the ages has been because families and clans were afraid of being fooled into raising children that were not "their own." The metaphorical cuckoo's egg in the nest.

Which meant women's fertility and childbearing opportunities needed to be tightly monitored and regulated (Not by men. We don't need to man bash here. But by society in general. It was a trade off to keep societal order.) to prevent that problem. It made a brutal kind of sense back in prehistorical and pretechnology times, even though it caused and continues to cause massive suffering across the world.

Now you can just prove who the dad is by picking up a test at CVS. Truly amazing!

Of course when legalities ensue, more formal testing will be required. Just like with a home pregnancy test, it's an indicator pointing to the need to get a professional test.

Several years ago we used one of these tests because my son's ex told him he wasn't the father of his younger son ( even though he looked just like his brother and also like my son).  The test validated that his younger son was his off spring and relieved the devastation  my son had obviously felt at "the news".  The test also confirmed his and our opinion of the " ex".  Btw it was obviously not evidence to use in court but a parent can take a clinical test that resolves legal parenthood.

What an ugly and vindictive soul that "ex" had.   Her actions and intent make my skin crawl.  It must have been a relief to rid your family of such a poisonous individual.

Oh, good grief!  It's sad we live in a day when a paternity test is even needed.  I could say so much more, but it would be poofed.

In order to be admitted to the forum, I had to edit my nickname.

So, although I feel a bit canine, I am now "Golden76," after tweaking my "Goldie76" a tad.

I have decided that my nic is suggestive of another poster's name, and I always identify her with "golden."
