I'm considering trying my hand at preparing home cooked food for my little three year old Bichon because he has a propensity to allergies and while my Vet says they are "environmental / airborne allergies", is unable to tell me if he also has food allergies, I am suspicious of the store bought brands - even the "gourmet" brands and want to see if preparing food for him without all the preservatives and filler's that go into dog foods will alleviate the allergy symptoms. He tends to be a very picky eater as well. That said, I don't have a clue as to where to start, what foods to prepare, foods to avoid, is it best to prepare for a week at a time or a day at a time; which foods offer proper nutrition; how much to feed for body weight, proper storage, methods of preparation, how to prepare treats. I know there are lots of pet parents who prepare your own food for your fur babies. Can anyone of you please give me some guidelines. TIA.
