I can't imagine a persons thoughts or intentions after receiving this type of life changing diagnosis.

However his erratic, reckless, and at times darn right mean behavior, make showing/offering him any sympathy, difficult.

I heard most of it today.  He does seem sincere.  I hope he is.  I also hope he truly DID tell all of his partners.   His "hard living" lifestyle has done this to himself and he has to take responsbility for his actions. I hope he was truthful to these women.

I feel bad for all concerned.  He is messed up and seems to have a lot of mental issues in general.

Being blackmailed by some "supposed" confidants...disgusting.

I agree, it's sad that he was blackmailed into telling his personal health info. He obviously knows who his true friends are now. I've always liked Charlie as an actor..as I don't know him in personally. I wish him the best going forward !

I couldn't care less he has this.
I couldn't care less how he got it.
Also....taking the emotion out of it,
I couldn't care less SHAME brought him here instead of anything else.

BUT, what I DO care is....he had an amazing opportunity to educate the public. He's the 'new face' of HIV/AIDS...but he wasted it in a 4-minute public forum interview with his misguided ignorance. Idiot. And I also look cockeyed at The Today Show for airing this....knowing CS would give false information.

Thoughts?

ETA:  My gut tells me all these 'shake-downs' are about another secret he has.  How did he contract the virus?  Wasn't needles, wasn't women...it was the other gender.   It took 4 years for this story to come out....it'll probably be another 4 years before THAT story comes out.

I thought blackmail was a federal offense, right? Punishable by jail time and fines? Why haven't we heard that the blackmailing prostitute is being pursued by law enforcement? Wouldn't that have been an important piece of this story since it is the alleged reason he outed himself?

He is an addict.  He may be a really good person deep down inside...and a brilliant actor, but his addictions have taken their toll....drug use, promiscuous behaviors, surrounded by sordid characters......good luck. I just see an addict now.  Grow up and stop drinking.

I still am sympathetic.  Yes, he's an addict and he did bring this upon himself.  He was very reckless and lived a hard life.  I still have a soft spot for him for some odd reason.  I'm sure he was such a jerk at times, and I think his behavior was obviously extremely erratic, but I feel bad.

I think it's horrible how he paid 10 million dollars out to these blackmailers.  These people were despicable.

I doubt it was the "other gender".  I think it was the prostitutes and who knows if it was needles.  He did admit to drug abuse, but I don't know what kind of drugs.
