and I do recall now why it was that price...you got from 15-20% discount if you bought during the RV show.

that's how it normally works...................the X and I owned an RV dealership, back when RVing was really big......and I was still married to the jerk LOL..........we attended the shows and there was always a discounted price at the shows........................................raven

Guess they were all used...and decrepit?

not at all......................a great number of things affect sticker price............one would be competition..........the more availability of product the more competitive the pricing.........I would have thought that someone who did so much research on something would have know that little fact right off the bat...........second thing that affects pricing is vendor discounts, especially if you carry more then one line..............third one is obvious......mark up, how much commission do you want to make off this unit............at any rate, what you paid does not sound unreasonable or erroneous.................................raven

How long ago were you in this business? The person who talks about this camper she saw doesn't even know how big it is. Over a certain size they then start to also require bigger and bigger tow vehicles which also cost more and more. The camper described by the poster here would be huge and heavy - 2 fireplaces would mean 2 lounge areas, washer & dryer require more heaft where they are built in to take the weight and the shaking, plus a larger water heater. Campers like that do not sell new for $43,000.

you're absolutely off base............at one point I could show you two semi identical travel trailers..........same amenities, just slightly different layouts...........huge difference in pricing............why...........depends on the chassis they were built on, Dodge was the preferred chassis..........wall thickness.............insulation used.............TONS of differences the buyer is not aware off........BUT each and everyone of those things affect pricing.......added to what I have already mentioned.

tow vehicles...........give me a break..........you're only talking a 3/4 ton or full ton.........and with anti sway bars you can get away with a 3/4 ton on most travel trailers............and bigger then a full ton and you're looking at an RV..........it hauls itself

anything used in an RV is NOT built like a home.........there is reduced weight concessions in each and everything which is why you don't see ceramic tile in them..........the weight of the tile and the vibration of the road equals disaster............two fireplaces would be the equivalent of two people in the unit..........big deal.

why are you so angry and hung up on the fact she got a good deal.......and she did get a good deal...........not a spectacular one but a good one..........sounds like sour grapes to me..................................................raven

TY raven. I have no reason to lie...there were many more expensive...we were surprised to find this gem in all the RV's we looked at. It was manufactured by Canyon...something...wish I could recall the full name?

anybody who has spent time around the leisure travel business knows what you stated as the price is not odd, unexpected, or untrue.............tons of stuff affect pricing.........some times we would slash prices and actually sell units at our cost to get the lot space for something else we wanted to bring in or what we thought would be a good seller.........those units take up A LOT of space, and that space, we could tell you what the square footage cost us daily on each unit..........if it's not moving like you thought it would...........you slash and bag.......make space for something you think would be more productive, sales wise....................................................raven

Makes sense to me. I know this one was new because they still had tags on many items thru-out the RV. He said it was a new model on the market...maybe they were trying to get the model to sell? I will say there were many that were much more. I am going to check right now and see if I still have the brochure!

that would be a vender discount.............like putting your big toe in the water.........send em out with an inviting sticker price and see how they go...........they go well and you raise the price..........it's the old introductory pricing thing.....................................raven

On

I told my DH I am getting a washboard & tub and using the hot water from the outside shower on the camper. He just shakes his head.It costs us at least $80/month at the laundromat and there is no hot water. Our clothes are so dingy by the time we get home in the fall - and then I wash them here in HOT water and my good washer and - viola - they are back to nice and clean. I don't even take any white clothes with us because I know they would get ruined.

We have a Splenda washer/dryer combo on the boat and it's awesome! Throw a load in and go about my day and come back and it's washed and dried. Best invention ever. Check them out!

Happy, I believe I'd check out what Luv uses- sounds like a good recommendation.... Thanks for the info, Luv.. Our friends have an almost 60 footer and if she ever mentions that, I'll tell her..

I have looked at those - the least expensive one is $1200, and is very very small.

Wowzie that is costly but if it does the trick.. saves money in the long run and hauling it to the Laundromat.. just trying to help ya, hh!

I think you are right! And I posted a pic of one that was similar to what we looked at and the price.

My understanding is that Forest River is on the lower end of RVs, croemer. That would be a very heavy fifth to pull, especially if it has a W/D.

It does look like a nice floor plan.

No idea tansy...but I described it and was told it was not possible...several times on this thread. I am just backing up what I said with facts...that hh said I did not have.

This thread became very confusing to me. Do you own this fifth, croemer, or just browsing?
