HERE'S A MATH PROBLEM: STARTING WITH JEFF BEZOS' 130 BILLION, HOW MUCH

WOULD HE HAVE LEFT IF HE GAVE EVERY PERSON IN NEW YORK CITY 1 MILLION DOLLARS EACH?

Well mousketeers, the answer is 129 billion, 992 million dollars left.

Next question, what would or could you do with that amount of money?

I ask because he is investing his in outer space, really banking on the idea that humans can and will inhabit outer space because it can support a trillion people.

I like Bill Gates and his philosophy of developing a universal flu vaccine for earth dwellers.  He has donated 12 million so far to that end.  If Jeff Bezos donated 12 million dollars, he would have 129 billion,988 million dollars left. $129,988,000,000.  I wish he would have thrown some into the flu research.

I know I would feel a huge responsibility to improve things here--on earth.

He could be giving to many charities or causes.  It's his money to do as he pleases.

He thinks like a rich man, that being said, I heard he wants to start up his own health care system for his employees.

I see. The second question is the real question.

I'd hire a banker, investment counselor, and a lawyer, because I'm not prepared to wisely deal with such large sums.

I'd help some people, and I'd help some animals.

I'd show my gratitude, and I'd do things.

I'd probably put a great deal of it toward funding research on a rare, aggressive type of cancer that little is currently known about.

First of all, I don't live in NYC, so I'm out of luck!

Second, it's his money and none of my business where he spends it, unless it's doing harm to the world.  He's not the only billionaire in the world from what I've read.

Third, I'll never have that kind of money, so why try to make myself look like I'm the world's greatest humanitarian on a shopping forum.

Well, you asked.

I'd find a cure for all auto-immune diseases and also use the power of the money to enact strict legislation against animal cruelty, including establishing sanctuaries of all kinds for all kinds of animals without homes.

I'll think of more later.

Spending so much on outer space is almost cowardly.

It makes me think of sci-fi movies in which only rich and/or chosen people got to enter the specially built space ships to leave a devastated and hopeless Earth.  No one seems to ever be able to solve Earth's problems.

Cowardly?  If one wants to delve and do some research, go on NASA sight and glean the benefits of space exploration and what beneftis to the world this has given us over the last fifty years in medicine, science, etc.
