HELP! Need child's gift basket ideas

I have to make a child's gift basket for a raffle and am stumped. It has to be appropriate for a range of pre-teen ages and for either boy or girl.

I don't even know what kids are into these days other than video games.  Please help me with some ideas. Smiley Happy  Thank you!

A gift card for a small pizza would be great for pre-teen.  Pizza and teenagers go hand in hand.

The pre-teens I know want Itunes and Amazon gift cards. Period.

I'd do that with some big candy bars which you can get about 30 of them at Walmart for about $10. Or less if you don't need that many.

Throw in lots of hot chocolate packets (also at Walmart in a big box for about $5) and a nice mug/thermos/water bottle if you need something more and you've got a complete winter package for them to veg out and have some fun.

Other ideas would be popcorn bags or kernels with some nice small bowls if the candy and hot chocolate would be too much of a sugar rush for your crowd.

ETA: And if you can find a book or kids magazine to add in there, I always like to encourage reading.  Or even an art set with a sketch book would work too.  You can get those fairly cheap as well and most kids love to craft.

Maybe some nice school folders, pads, pens

cute carry-alls.

One of my kids favorite things to do was pick out supplies for school.

How about an art basket. Different kinds of art supplies and paper.

Choose a current book series popular now  and build a basket around the theme in the books, including the books.

A cooking basket. There are cookbooks for kids, so start there, and add things to complete a cookie recipe, including baking supplies needed, and pans, cookie cutters etc.

I have a pre-teen girl.  This is what she would love in her gift basket.

A bag of special candy (Lindt Chocolate, Gummy Bear, Gummy Worms, or Jelly Beans).

A gift card to Justice or Old Navy.

Giltter Color Gel Pens

Plus Plus Blocks  (These are actually really fun for all ages)
