HELP!! How do you turn off an iPad??

Yes, it is possible for someone to be this stupid! A young grandchild is here and has his Dad's iPad. It needs charging, and it's turned on. Needs to be turned off so it can charge faster, and I'm at a loss.

I realize this is dumb on my part, but I'll be 78 tomorrow, and I think that entitles me to a bit of stupidity.

We need to turn it off to charge it faster. Someone please help!!
