Re: HEADS UP ..new PAYPAL SCAM

I don't know if I received that email or not. I always delete emails I don't want to look at anyways.

I don't need or want a Paypal credit card or any other credit card.

I don't click on links from any emails period.

When I receive my monthly bills I go direct to their site to check my balance.

Re: HEADS UP ..new PAYPAL SCAM

This isn't a scam, I do have pp credit and it was directly through pp account I got the notice to upgrade to the card, which I did decline.

I received this same email a month ago, prior to receiving my physical Paypal credit card.   I received my Paypal credit card in the mail and its showing in my online Paypal account.  This is for use if you previously used Paypal credit, which I do sometimes for the buy now and pay in 6 months with no interest.  I never click on any emails and always go to my Paypal account.  I had an opportunity to opt out of this via my Paypal account, but decided not to.

Why do you say this is spam?  My Paypal account is intact, but I haven't had an occasion to use the actual card yet.

@sunsetbeach  I have used PP credit and my PP acct for many years.

This is what happened to me...

A couple of weeks ago I found out that an order I placed for over $100 through Ebay was not given the 'usual' 6 months w/o interest to pay. I had to pay the amount in full by 10/4.

So I paid the pp credit/paypal cc in full to make sure there is a $0 balance. I'm going to cancel/stop/end my pp cc/credit as soon as possible!

When scrutinizing my acct online to find out the WHY, I noticed that in small print my PP credit acct is now a PP credit card and I'm supposed to be getting the physical card in the mail.

Welp, come to find out, it was 'pending' for several weeks in that mode.

Another crazy part is I never signed up for it! I called the PP credit CS and they said it was an 'automatic' upgrade. "An upgrade" I said?

Not in my eyes...

I also found out that they had supposedly sent out a physical card to me back in August. I never received it so they had to put that card under fraud/lost and issued me another one. I won't get it for 7-10 days.

I was also told that once I receive it, I can then cancel the PP credit card/PP credit acct.

Thankfully the regular PP acct is not connected to the PP cc - pp credit.

Good grief...oy.  newrant.gif

An afterthought about my previous post above...

I'm wondering if pp credit is trying to make money from those who always paid off their balance by switching those folks to a cc and taking away the '6 months no interest'.

I say that because I never paid a penny for interest in the 10-12 yrs I had pp credit...not a single penny. So all those years I used PP credit for 'free'.

Just trying to make sense of the sudden change...

@Susan Louise They increased the limit to $149 months ago to be able to use the no pay interest for 6 months.

@Pecky  Well, considering the order I placed with Ebay last month and it was for $153+, it makes no sense that I had to pay the balance in full by Oct 4th.

No matter, I DO NOT want a PP CC. CS said that I had no option of being able to keep just 'PP Credit' as it always was...I had to get the PP CC.

So, since that is the case, the PP CC that is coming by snail mail can't come soon enough for me to get out of PP Credit...period.

I only have one CC - Mastercard...that's it. I don't want/need anymore. It is the same one I have had for about 30+ years.

@Susan Louise You are right, that makes no sense at all why you had to pay the full amount.  I have two things that I have on the 6 months and when I went to my statement it hasnt changed.  I did opt out of the card and I havent received one so I am hoping that I don't as I just want the pp credit.

Some time ago I purchased something and the retailer would not accept "easy pay" because I used Paypal which is a go-between, not an actual card number.

I guess easy pay only works when you use an actual credit card number.

I recently had one that involved PP and the purchase of Bitcoin, turned it into PP immediately and they are keeping a watch on my account for awhile!
