We have a Havanese whose 16th birthday is June 1.

He will be our last pet.  😢

When I first saw the topic, I thought it was a check to see how many of us were still willing to deal with the wonky forums.

we do take care of a stray or two, until we trap and turn over to rescue for adoption. Then we have several crows that have been coming everyday for years for eggs, a couple pet squirrels, a possum we feed in off season,  blue jay and finches. That alone is a lot of work and cost to feed.

Awww bless their little heads.  I am older and don't drive anymore (so not able to get to vet in an emergency/so not fair to any pets) so just the human head type here. Since I was 18 and moved out from parents I've had up to five furry friends at any given time. Mostly cats.  I miss all of them very much and wish I could adopt more, but then remind myself of how grateful I am for the joy they brought to my life.

@PhilaLady1   You must really love animals to think ahead of their future and the care.  We have one cat now, and 13 pond fish.  When our dog died a while back, we decided nor to get another one. We were 70.  The end years was so hard for our dog, as she was a retriever.  The aiding her to go to rest room, to walk.  She could no longer go upstairs , we had to make, adjustments. It was hard on her, but harder on us I think. She was 17 when she passed .  I thought, could I do this in another 17 years?  . We had a few cats  then, now one. I don't want to have to leave a dog or cat with another person when we are gone. Hard on the animal. Jmho

Hi @shoekitty

You are very kind. I must say that I want a kitty again, but I can't be selfish about it so it is definitely not going to happen.  Have a nice evening!

We currently have 4 dogs:  Begal mix 17 years old, Treeing Walker Coon Hound 12 years old,  Short Haired Doxie 8 years old and English Bulldog 10. All our dogs are rescues.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.
