What makes you think it's manufactured in China?  Which brands?

Is all paper toilet paper all manufactured in the U.S.?

Oh I just made it up to upset people. . . REALLY?  I looked some up and it was mfg in China.  Good grief.

@Tinkrbl44 Having checked Northern, Charmin and Angel Soft are USA.  NO reason to buy from China.  If you are worried about the environment, think about that being shipped from China.  In giant boats that use a lot of fossil fuel.  And worry about the USA workers who might be out of a job.

@Sooner

I went back to investigate the company I wrote about and even emailed them.  They have offices in MN and CA.  The bamboo product does come from China but the manufacturing is done in CA.

I can't speak to what any other companies making bamboo TP do.

From what I can see, American jobs are not in danger, and killing 27,000 trees every day to make paper TP isn't doing our planet any good.   We NEED trees.

@Tinkrbl44  so true. Here in Georgia if you cut down one tree on your property for what ever reason, you have to plant two. And they would also tell you what trees to plant.

@Tinkrbl44 I hope you don't give a darn if I don't believe that.  The offices are here, the product is I feel sure made in China.  Even if it isn't bamboo grows like wildfire in this country--no need to pay China for it. The planet is fine.  People in this country can't buy a home.

"The planet is fine?"   Seriously?

@Tinkrbl44 No, but I don't respond well to fear mongering bandied about these days.  Trees are a renewable resource in this country and much of the Americas and guess what?  People are replanting them and growing more trees.

The money spent would better be spent on reforestration in this country and on our continent than shipped to China who cares not one whit about pollution.  As a matter of fact, when you buy from China you are greatly contributing to abuse of the earth.  Toxic metals, child labor, melamine in dog food, and other grave ills I won't mention here.  But you can read about China.

As a matter of fact, and you can look it up, the pollution that comes out of China and India is a gigantic part of the problem.  So any money WE spend on Chinese goods greatly contributes to the issues you are concerned about.

No I don't live in a cave, but I do read and I do think about what I read!  I look at facts, not stuff shouted to improve some person's face on the internet.  I really try hard NOT to buy from China.  Most of what they ship I can get from other sources.

And that's the way I am comfortable with who I am and how I live and how I live by my beliefs.  I try to stand by my faith, family, friends and country.  That is what I believe in. I don't always live up to what I'd like to be, but I try to live thoughtfully.

@Sooner

I appreciate your response.  I also try to live thoughtfully.

The big issue here (to me) are the statistics:

How many years it takes a little seedling to become a big tree.  Ten?  Fifteen?  That's a long time, especially since they cut down 27,000 trees every day just to make toilet paper.    Obviously, we can't keep up, even if we planted 27,000 trees per day, and I doubt THAT is happening.

Bamboo grows 100% faster than regular trees and is a logical alternative.   It also grows in many other countries other than China.

The newer bamboo TP products get great reviews.   While our dealing with many new products are trial and error, I hope others will also give it a try.

Either that, or start planting forests in your nearest vacant lots.
