HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORDON LIGHTFOOT!

84 yrs old today.

I've loved his music for over 50 yrs and have seen him more times live over those decades than I can count. My favorite song of his is If You Could Read My Mind, which is also the title of a recent documentary about him that is excellent. It's available free on TUBI and perhaps still is on Amazon Prime where it was playing free last time I looked.

Happy Birthday Gordon! ❤  Please continue on the Carefree Highway of life for many years to come; don't encounter Sundown any time soon. 😁

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORDON LIGHTFOOT!

I always enjoyed the music of Gordon Lightfoot.  May he celebrate many more!

Today is also the birthday of Bob Gaudio, one of the original Four Seasons.  He turns 80 today.  He's the other half of the famous handshake with Frankie Valli that has served as their binding business agreement for so many decades.

Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain" has always appealed to my reflective side.

@BoopOMatic  Opening scene is his mansion. Holy cow!  I have an entire thread here about the documentary but I think it's too old for me to bump up. Easy to find using the search the forums feature.  Lots of good comments about it.

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORDON LIGHTFOOT!

Wow.  In 1973 I was tooling around town in a Karmann Ghia , top down, letting the beautiful summer breeze and Gordon's "Sundown" envelope me like a hug.

Now he's 84 and I'm just....................oh.

"I can't read that book again because the ending just to hard to take"

So meaningful.  I love that he is still with us...and doing what he loves to do best.

'If you could read my mind, love......

What a tale my thoughts would tell.....'

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@phoenixbrd I so agree with you. As I started this thread I was thinking I wish he'd receive a Nobel prize in literature, like Dylan did, for all his poetic lyrics. The man is brilliant.
