"I can't read that book again because the ending's just too hard to take"

A lyric that takes its place with some really fine poetry.  So much expressed in so few words.

I always enjoyed the music of Gordon Lightfoot.  May he celebrate many more!

Today is also the birthday of Bob Gaudio, one of the original Four Seasons.  He turns 80 today.  He's the other half of the famous handshake with Frankie Valli that has served as their binding business agreement for so many decades.

Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain" has always appealed to my reflective side.

@golding76 "Early Morning Rain"...my favorite singers of this great piece of music was Ian and Sylvia (Tyson), also Canadian folk singers; they were favorites of mine during their strong years until they divorced and broke up their great sound.

@ScarletDove  ian & Sylvia had quite a bit to say in the GL documentary I mentioned above. Love their music too.

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORDON LIGHTFOOT!

I have adored Gordon Lightfoot since I was 15 years old. I have had the pleasure of seeing him in concert more than I care to admit!

Other artists have come and gone throughout the years, but he has been my constant!

I agree. I've listened to him for many decades too. My first album was Gordon Lightfoot, late 60s. I saw him in concert 1973. Fabulous!

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORDON LIGHTFOOT!

Yep, I'm glad he and his wonderful music are still with us. We went to one of his concerts about 10 years ago. He talked about recovering from a stroke and having to learn how to talk, sing, and play guitar again. The audience was filled with all ages, old and young. Everyone was singing along. My husband and I were impressed with all the 20-somethings who knew the words to all Gordan's songs. Who knew?

It was a wonderful evening I'll never forget.
