I would post this under 'holiday' but it's not really a holiday related question. I like using 2 or 3 flameless candles on a timer in my front window - it's welcoming when I drive up to the house at night time.  But my cats tend to knock them off the window sill! 

I don't celebrate Christmas so I can't gauge these strands well- are they as bright as a flameless candle? Are any of the choices brighter than the others? On my monitor amber seems brighter than white. I thought one of these strands might be a great alternative to a flameless candle - it can dangle by the curtain rod.

I have a variety of flamless candles and the Bethlehem battery operated strand lights. It's difficult to answer your question (a bit) because the different brands and styles of each can have a different glow intensity. In general, I think the strand lights are going to be a bit brighter than the flameless candles  I believe the LED lights are brighter in the strand option. I think the LED are the safe choice to hang in a window (with or without drapery and with or without pets) Most of the BL options remain cool to the touch. I think the strands are long enough that you swag  them across your window and use cup hooks or command hooks. Years back I hung the icicle lights in my bow window for a waterfall effect. It was bright and pretty. ( I wouldn't recommend this version with cats) I hope I answered all your questions. Just remember that the battery box will have to sit someplace. It's about 2" wide by 5" long for D cells. I just disquised mine on the window sill.

@Fressa thanks for such a complete answer! I think the strands will work for my needs-  the flameless candles aren't a bright light, just a welcoming light moreso.
