Wonder why they can't make a flu pill? Instead of a shot? Just pondering . . .
Administration of a pill would sure be a heck of a lot easier . . . storage would be easier . . . and no needles. ![]()

Not a fan of shots.
I had rabies series when I was six years old.
Scary stuff. I've told my kids wash wash wash your hands.
I don't know if it is or not. But have heard a lot of folks have this too. I believe the Swine Flu is more like having a serious cold. Where the H1N1 is a combination of stomach and cold combined. I am really trying to stay home more right now. And, try to never shake hands with anyone at this time. Have had my appointment with my internist since I was sick with my cold, and he said my lungs sounded good at that time.
I have heard the rabies shots really hurt.
I had H1N1 a few years ago when it first hit (2010?). I ended up going to Urgent Care.....had to get iv fluids and breathing treatments. The cough was the worst part of it. The dr said I had actually skinned my lungs.

I got so weak and feverish that I ended up at my doctor's, a place I rarely go. She said the combo of high fever, chest congestion and coughing (no sniffles), and body aches meant it was definitely the flu but would probably be a milder case since I'd gotten the flu vaccine. It lasted for about 4 days and then suddenly (as suddenly as it started) I began to feel better. Other than a cough I feel great today (except I still feel weak). My doctor told me to call her right away if the fever comes back with a worsening of the cough. I guess one of the patterns they've seen is the flu followed by a couple of days of feeling better and then pneumonia hits. After feeling as lousy as I did I don't even want to THINK about feeling worse! The flu vaccine is something I will continue to get without fail.
I don't know what "brand" of flu I have but it's nasty, and the symptoms sound just like that. It hit me yesterday like a freight train, great way to start the new year.
I felt fine on NYE although in the evening I started to have an annoying cough. Went to bed just after midnight and the cough got worse through the night. By morning I was running a 102 degree temp, chills and aches, nausea, and it's a congested cough that rattles when I breath. I haven't had the flu in years, but know this isn't a head cold. Had an awful night last night, still running a high temp unless I take a fever reducer. Been taking Mucinex DM since last night and that helps loosen the congestion but it's miserable. The cough is what concerns me most since I have had bronchitis before and that is no picnic. Guess I took a risk this year, I never get a flu shot, probably been 10 years since I had one, and I never get the flu, but my luck ran out. The bummer is I feel like roadkill and I still have to take care of my dad. Fortunately he got his flu shot the beginning of the season and I am being really careful when I am around him, definitely don't want him getting this junk. I'm just drinking lots of juice and water and ginger ale, and hopefully it will be gone in a couple more days. I hate being sick, especially when there is nobody that can take care of you. Had to go to the pharmacy last night in 13 degree snowy weather with icy roads when all I wanted to do was stay in bed. I'm not sure if getting the flu shot would have prevented me getting sick, but next year I won't take chances.

I had it in 1957, as I said in an earlier post. So did our baby and my DH. He had a terrible headache with it too. I was nineteen years old. We lived in Montana when doctors still made house calls and he got there about eight at night. He was a wonderful man, and still had to drive back to Great Falls.mm

I recently heard a newscaster suggest that people don't go out to eat during this flu period. His idea - hourly employees don't get paid if they do not show up to work! So, sick workers are going to work and preparing food. Yes, the health dept. mandates hand washing, but we all know how far that rule really goes. Thought it was a good suggestion......
