Due to hit soon in South Texas..... I already struggled with the mold allergies, stocked up on Kleenex and Allegra!

Re: 🌫 Gulf Coast Folks 🌫

Poor air quality can aggravate those suffering from respiratory issues such as asthma and COPD, the Weather Channel said.

"Air quality could also drop to moderate to unhealthy this weekend over South and East Texas due to the dust," Kottlowski said. "So, people with respiratory issues should not spend any long periods of time outdoors. Some people with severe respiratory conditions may just want to stay indoors."

Although some people may be more sensitive to the dust than others, University of Texas meteorology lecturer Troy Kimmel said there may be a silver lining because of the timing of the cloud’s arrival during the coronavirus pandemic: “The good news with that is we’re all wearing masks.”

Another benefit of dust from the Sahara Desert: more vivid sunsets and sunrises. As the sun passes the curve of the Earth, its rays shine through a thicker layer of atmosphere.

Yahoo News apparently thinks that a "benefit" of the Godzilla cloud is the fact that we're wearing masks.

Good grief. My cats can think more clearly.

@noodleann   I think the point they're trying to make is, we're wearing masks so are less likely to be affected by the dust.  Many times I've been caught in dust storms and wished I'd had one.

So far I am not impressed with this new decade.  I think I may prefer the 80's with the big shoulder pads.

@beckyb1012   Amen!  I have been playing my 80s playlists to death.  I will even wear Madonna's cone bra to work if we can say buh bye to the ongoing plagues this year.

Just yesterday one of the ladies who works on my floor in our building wanted to know if I was aware this thing was coming.  I have such a hard time with allergies and sinus infections they have me on nightly asthma medication.  It has been a big help, only three sinus infections for 2020.  I am with you and keeping my fingers crossed on staying fine through this latest dust up @Spurt We do still Love TEXAS!!

I understood what they thought they were saying, but it was inauspiciously phrased.
