I am way too worn out for guilt trips.......I'm already my own harshest critic, so I don't need anyone else to lay drama on me.....IF someone chooses to be an ar$e, I would smile and beat a hasty retreat.............seriously don't let ANYONE else hurt you, doubt you, guilt you.........who are they to judge?......all those PERFECT morons?............please.....

Guilt trips are different than confrontation. I'll take confrontation any day over a guilt trip. Laying a guilt trip on someone is manipulation. I imagine everyone has done it at one time or other but those who make a habit of it...they are the should have, need to, could have people.

I have to say the last time I was faced with this, I did walk away and have stayed away. But that was because what I had been accused of was ridiculous.

If it's something I feel I actually did, I have a harder time to not defend myself. I am just being honest here.

Ford....I told both of my kids when they were raised..."I want to apologize for anything wrong I ever did. I want you to know that everything I did, I did out of love for you and I never set out to intentionally hurt you. Right or wrong I had your best interest at heart. my grandmother was the MASTER of guilt trips.....a strategy she passed on to my aunts............once in high school my aunt wanted me to do something I didn't want to do.........so she pulled out her good ole standby..............when you were a baby I changed your dirty diapers..........well I had had it with the dirty diaper deal so I said to her..........ya know what, when you die I'm going to have them put on your tombstone SHE CHANGED MY SH#TTY DIAPERS............everyone started to laugh and she had to retire that guilt trip..........so I'm pretty immune to guilt trips after years of them................................raven

That's so funny, Raven. {#emotions_dlg.w00t} Those one-liners are the best and they work!

My mom used to say that Dr. Spock encouraged parents to guilt their children into good behavior.

I think this was her personal interpretation though!

I'm no authority but will give you a oh heaven's no on that question.

Let's say, survivor's guilt is when someone lives and the others don't. A guilt trip, is sometimes when one person tries to make another person feel at fault for doing something wrong. It doesn't mean they did anything wrong, it's a manipulation tool. That's how I see it. If someone else can explain better, have a go at it please.
