my grandmother was the MASTER of guilt trips.....a strategy she passed on to my aunts............once in high school my aunt wanted me to do something I didn't want to do.........so she pulled out her good ole standby..............when you were a baby I changed your dirty diapers..........well I had had it with the dirty diaper deal so I said to her..........ya know what, when you die I'm going to have them put on your tombstone SHE CHANGED MY SH#TTY DIAPERS............everyone started to laugh and she had to retire that guilt trip..........so I'm pretty immune to guilt trips after years of them................................raven

I have a person in my life who has quilted me for years. I have acknowledged some of the mistakes I made feeling, as someone on another post here, and believing that I did the best I could do with what I had at the time. I have apologized numerous times and tried to move on. This person continues the guilt game and I have come to the point where it is futile to build a healthy relationship so I pretty much ignore her now. My feeling is...you could blame me until you were an adult but NOW, all these years later, you are in charge of you and the responsibility for your happiness is in YOUR hands.
I refuse to play that game anymore. Ford, sometimes you just need to let it go.

It really doesn't. That is a nasty, mean thing to do --- I would limit or eliminate my exposure to anyone who does that!
