Re: Guide to Hiring Women Written in 1943

At that date, women were flying planes full of arms to our men overseas, working on decoding messages from the enemies, taking over tractors and other farming jobs, building ships for the Navy. Some of them worked undercover like Julia Child, and some joined the Marines, like Beatrice Arthur.

In Russia, they were the best snipers against the enemy.

And then there were my favorites, the nurses who were knee deep in the battlefields, riding in the planes carrying the wounded and dying in crashes with them. They gave the warriors hope and tended to their wounds.

And best of all, NoelSeven, those wonderful nurses were even then, still considered too delicate to participate in battlefield warfare (but evidently plenty strong enough to clean up after the battles).

I saw this posted somewhere earlier this week! I have quite a few teacher relatives I was tempted to send it to.
