Re: Guess he was a Fraud

[ Edited ]

The fallout has begun. One organization that donated $15,000 to the family after the death has requested their money back. Motorola had offered $50,000 as a reward and now they are donating it to the Explorer's Program to help replace the monies that were stolen.

I was sad to hear of this situation but what I was most thankful for was the honorable investigators because we all have heard of cases where "random" people who "fit" the "supposed" profile were arrested, questioned for 30 hours, and then later convicted of a crime to 30 years later be proven to be inicident.

I also feel sorry for his family because this is a a terrible cross to bear, they might end up moving from that town at some point.

@WSfan You're correct, we don't need to know everything the investigators are uncovering.  Maybe there's a partner or two involved in the embezzlement.  Who knows?

Like those who demand to know everything about our secret military intelligence or their technology.  Most of them are low IQ folks with no real sense of the big world.  What good would it do to disclose infor to folks with the IQ of worms?  Not necessary.  Keeping things confidential is done for a reason.  We want to prevail in all our attempt to keep the world free and ourselves able to defend it and us.

It seems we've elected some of those low IQ folks.................

why not?  That does not hold true anymore on most policies.

@physicsnut

Yes it does.  In the small print.

The “suicide clause.” Usually, this clause states that no death benefit will be paid if the insured commits suicide within two years of taking out a policy.

The family will also lose his pension because of his criminal activity.

Was the family guilty of anything?

The pension  - yes- but if he had a life insurance policy for over 2 years - the benefits WILL be paid - as they should to the beneficiaries.

Wow.  I can understand wanting the money back.  It's hard for me to believe that his family (wife) didn't know something was fishy.  Salaries of the cops are posted in open forums.  She may have worked but there seemed to be excess to the income/spending.

There may be charges filed against the family.  I would also assume they would leave the area.  More will be disclosed in the near future.

I wonder about that, also.  If he was spending what he stole on vacations and porn, most wives I know would know something was amiss.

@Puzzle Piece @NoelSevenThe amount they are saying was stolen is $50,000. Over a period of seven years, that was not a significant increase to his income. That could have been explained as overtime. I think that figure may increase as their investigation continues.

I guess I have to wonder if the wife knew?

I feel bad for the kids.  His dad was lauded a hero.  Now....he has tarnished their idea of him.

Also, doesn't suicide run in families.  (Maybe that's not the correct way to say it.)  But I hope it doesn't push one of them over the edge.  Having to live with this publicity....
