Gas is not high everywhere, my friend lives in CO and her gas is still 4.00 or a little lower.  I am in Reno and paid 4.45 yesterday

Re: Grocery Store Stock Issues?

Well after thinking about those people in Buffalo that only had one grocery store "Tops" We should count our blessings.  They have nothing. Hard to believe in the United States that there are areas with one grocery store and they had to fight for that.  This should put things in perspective

Most trucks use diesel, your gas prices don't help them since items must be trucked in from different parts of the country and I do think $4.00 a gallon is high.

$4.00 is high when it could and should be half that.

@Spurt   "hebs"  (lol) also produces it's own brand so the shelves are better stocked.

However, even Trader Joe's has plenty of produce, dairy, bread, and frozen dinners; etc.

Was in the grocery store this morning. Northern NJ Wegmans. Just about everything was well stocked and the store was busy.

@NigelSparkles   I am truly happy you are not facing shortages.  We are doing fine, too.

This is the issue-some areas are struggling and other areas are in good shape.

Some of these posts (just order meals online) are insensitive; not everyone can afford it and/or have disabilities hampering cooking at home.  (Not your posts)

@sunshine 919  $4.00 is high and even if a little lower-the results are still causing problems.

I went to pick up dinner today and noticed lots of empty shelve. I mentioned it to someone stocking them and they said thet they move the stock around every Thursday to accomodate the new sales circular thats starts on Friday. Stock being moved to endcaps and  display areas. There was plenty of meat and chicken. We had Lamb Chops with tzadiki, zucchini, and baked potato.

@reiki604   Plus stock is replenished to accomodate the dates of SS payments, too.

Since I retired and have plenty of time to devote to whatever I deem necessary I read the sales circulars and make lists predicated on who has the best deals on what.

Living in metro Boston we have anything and everything within just about arm's reach here.  There are at least 9 supermarkets/wholesale clubs within a 5-7 minute drive from my front door and I usually get my groceries from 3 or 4 of them every time I need groceries.  The gas is not really a concern because they are really that close. and by using their sales my savings are quite considerable.  I have not seen gaping holes in the shelves at any of the stores here, although I do think the practice of "hole filling" is used sometimes.  Usually, different stores are completely out of different things, and those things are usually (for me anyway) little indulgences rather than necessities.  While I have no trouble yet in getting any meats, bread, dairy, veggies or fruit that I want, I am sure that many of you have experienced the concern and trauma of a serious lack of Pillsbury Toaster Struedel. (Strawberry OR Raspberry.)    Also, my local Market Basket today had not a single donut of any flavor by any brand. I think I sniff a crisis!  Someone else mentioned pasta being scarce a while ago and that was true here as well, but it seems to be fully returned.  Tomorrow I will venture out again to see if Hannaford or Shaws can fill that empty corner of my freezer that little Poppin' Fresh calls home.  If Coke Zero ever goes missing look for me on the evening news.

@781Florist - my very favorite Coke Zero Cherry Vanilla is gone, gone with the wind.  So I'm back to Coke Zero Cherry and keeping myself well stocked and my fingers crossed.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

So you don't think gas companies have a right to make a living @ThinkingOutLoud ?  The high cost of EVERYTHING depends on where you live (that includes gas).  Weren't you Thinking Camille at one time?
