@Sister Golden Hair, loved your post! Reminded me of a quotation by Richard Bach:

How do you know if God isn't done with you yet? Are you still alive?

Quoted loosely, but speaks to our imperfections. Gosh, it is just too hard trying to waste time being perfect! Heart

Re: Grocery Store Checkers - I have a question for you, thanks.

It really shocks me (although I don't know why, as I've been here a while) at how rude some people are to the OP. It's as if some of you have never made an honest mistake before. And for the record, it was the cashiers job to include the money with the reciept. Not the OP's job to get it. Obviously the whole thing could've been avoided if the OP had noticed immediately, but sometimes there is a lot going on and you are distracted. Goes both ways. @house_cat, I'm just glad you got your money. Smiley Wink

Btw, I was not rude to the OP. When there are homeless people and people with no jobs I find it disgusting to be so flippant about 40.00. Gee my bad.

By all means call me to task for pointing out another opinion on being responsible about your money and not to blame someone else.

@AngusandBuddhasMom  The OP did not blame anyone. You are welcome to express your opinion on money, but chaistizing someone who doesn't adhere to your rules is rude. It's the OP's money. If they want to take THEIR $40 and set it on fire it's none of your business.

I suggest you reread her post.  I will not qualify your attempt to chastise me with your post as if I should hang my head.

I could say what I wrote is my opinion and none of your business hows that?  I stand by what I wrote you don't agree oh well. As for it your stupid comment my rules? Really its called common sense and being responsible with your money. I guess you aren't either and so it does not make a difference to you.

UPDATE:  I went to the store early this morning. I spoke first to my favorite cashier, who knows me very well. She asked who the checker was that day and when I told her she said, "He was probably talking too much." I didn't ask her to elaborate, but that confirmed my theory that he was distracted.

I told the manager that I had the receipt but not the cash, that is was possible I lost it, but didn't think so, could he check the #s for that day, but he didn't bother. He said he knew I was a good customer (I'm there literally every day and I shop for two households) and a trustable person and he had me sign a paper and gave me the $40.

Lesson learned: Pay attention!

Thanks for all the feedback and advice - I love my QVC forum friends :-)

Not only did I read your OP but I read every response including this one of yours.

My reply was not meant to do anything other than express my concern for the cashier who may be totally innocent.

First you gossip with a cashier about the incident, then you reveal to her the name of the cashier who may have deprived you of your $40. You can't possibly think she will be any more discrete then you were.

Well considering how blase you were about $ your lucky. I would of noticed that day. But I don't take not receiving cash back as no big deal. Must be nice to live like that.

I would of noticed at the register. Why you did not call the store asap as soon as you realized your mistake is beyond me. And yes it is your mistake. It is your money and you left the store without it. The cashier was doing his job and you left his line without receiving your requested money. Then you blew it off for over a week and put all the blame on him.  Even after realizing you still were very nonchalant about it.

I work hard for my money and can account for all of it spent, deposited and cash. I would think 40. is still worth something today no matter what your life style is. I have a sister in law who forgot to cash a check for $45,000. Just let it go until it was almost a year later I can not believe that people can just think so little about $.

You couldn't be more  wrong about the situation or my reaction to it.  Are you always so judgmental of people you don't even know?  That must be exhausting.

Nope no exhaustion here. I don't spend my time asking strangers advice because I can't keep track of my $$$. I guess that awesome trait to you is seen as judgmental. Your opinion of me is judgmental and typical of someone who comes across a different opinion.

OK so you post about a post that is not about the post you replied to? Do I have that correct? I want to make sure since you are apart of the grammar police. And would not want to end up in Grammar jail. How small of you and judgmental.

Ironic all of you who are writing back to me about pointing out the obvious because you want the OP to continue blaming others for her own mistake. (i surmise you do this as well so you see nothing wrong with it)

Are looking for things to chastise me for. Judgment poor grammar etc. Whatever

I was not judging the OP. I was not agreeing with her actions and gave a difference of opinion.  Because you did not like my tone and it may have not been worded in a frilly and sweet manner you all then feel a need to go for the jugular. So be it. You have your opinion and I have mine.

Since the OP has responded back to my post I see no more reason for you to continue your crusade against my post. I will continue to stand up for the cashier as I have seen this happen in my family's stores. People get side tracked and blame the cashiers.  Why she could not just call or go straight to the manager instead of gossiping to another employee is telling.

So by all means continue to correct my grammar if that is what you like to do.
