We are Costco members, but I haven't been since all this started. No way am I standing in lines like that when I can get the items elsewhere.

I went grocery shopping on Sunday. It was my first time out in three weeks. I stocked up so I wouldn't have to go out again for a few weeks. Mostly, I bought fresh fruits and vegetables. They had plenty.
Eggs were scarce and expensive. Only was allowed to buy one dozen, they only had XL in brown and they were $4.99. Ouch!
Before I went, I saw my neighbor in the back yard and asked if he needed anything. He said AP flour and lt. brown sugar. I found the sugar, but there was no flour at all..nothing.
I stopped at another store nearby and they had no flour either, but I did get another dozen of eggs..they only had medium and only 1 dozen per customer.
Luckly, I have plenty of flour and gave my neighbor a 10 lb. bag from my cold pantry. So far, I have every item that we need.
I saw on TV tonight that groceries are being trucked to the stores every day, but there could be some delays and problems in the future. They said some products would not be available for purchase eventually.
I was thinking..oh, goodness..now people will starting hoarding food.

That's happening all over. Walmart started that here a while ago. Kroger was already limiting the number of people at a time and is considering the one way direction. Home Depot has been like that too. It's the new world we live in.

@Reever, if those are your sources for information, you deserve our sympathy. No wonder you don't have any clue about things outside your own little bubble. Stockpiling $600 in groceries makes you one of the hoarders causing these issues. Many stores are limiting quantities. If someone can't get one to two weeks of groceries delivered, they can't purchase a month's supply.
and so many people cannot afford that much money all at once.

@Reever wrote:Simply stay home people. I am shocked people are still out food shopping. People should have had a large selection of dried beans and lentils to get through a crisis. I bet half the people at the supermarket are buying junk foods and chips ! Exposing people to the virus for no reason other than to get a bag of Lays chips is assinine.
Please be safe and use the delivery services. I am using "Instacart" and they have been very reliable.
When you need food now (and you live alone), the delivery services are too slow. They are also expensive for those of us on a limited income. I went to the store this morning and it was not for "a bag of chips". It was for fresh fruits and vegetables to go with my canned and frozen items. This is the first time I have been outside in 2 weeks because I am terrified to leave the house. I also did not hoard food or papergoods so stop being so judgy. We are all doing the best we can.![]()

@lynne6was7 Could not agree more. What kind of miserable existence is this woman existing in? And is paying others so she can hoard groceries. Has has zero clue what is going on outsider her front door. I don't know where she lives that she is allowed to do this. Exact example why there are issues with so much we are all dealing with.

I will say this about Costco though. I tried a few days ago to order kitchen trash bags from them online and couldn't, out of stock.
I tried again tonight and they showed in stock and I ordered quickly and the delivery fee is only $3.00. Works for me.
We love the Kirkland kitchen trash bags. But not enough to stand in line outside to get them.

To add to this situation, most distribution warehouses where truckers like my daughter deliver to, and pick up from, will shut down for the Easter holiday at the end of shifts tomorrow (Thursday), to observe Good Friday.
The trucks you see moving over the next few days are finishing up this weeks run, and by Saturday the truckers will be headed out to get to their destinations for loading appointments early on Monday morning.

We have been on limits for a while for all the good it does. There is no food in stores. Raleys and Safeway are bare. Costco is one item of anything in the store. I milk, one eggs, one or pants, etc. good for them. I send my granddaughter out because I have medical issues and ok, I'll say it I am old. According to Covid virus rules, I am 72, and well over the the age of seniorism.lol
this is my store shelves at Raleys, it is sideways and can't correct it but you get idea
