I'm with you @Jordan2 .  If they've started that, I won't shop there right now.

Luckily my main grocer is still come as you are.  It's tough for those of us who are still working to be inconvenienced like that as great a reason as it is but when you're limited with time and shorter store hours and senior hours, it just becomes a major hassle to find a good time to go.  So I have and will go without.

I have stocked up pretty well but there's always an incidental or two that makes you need a quick run if you can.

@Laura14, it's hard for me to sympathize with anyone who doesn't recognize the importance of these measures. I'm sorry that they inconvenience you so much.

Re: Grocery Shopping Is Getting Harder

I've kind of taken the attitude that I am stuck at a cabin, a really rough cabin.  I have oatmeal, canned beans, soups--from Amazon or Walmart mail.  I just ordered some boxed soy milk and those meal replacement drinks.

When I do get a pick up of fresh food from Kroger, it is a treat.  It helps that I am a vegetarian and not too picky about what I eat.

As if food shopping isn't bad enough now, it's going to get worse. In New Jersey I heard the Governor say it is mandatory to wear a mask in public. Some places are taking people's temperatures before they are allowed in a store. It's getting to the point where I won't want to go shopping, it isn't worth it.

Have you used the online delivery services ? I have been using them since early March (the first moment i heard of the impending crisis,  self - quarrenting, have not left the house).  The delivery service is easy and no risk of getting the virus in the stores.

@Reever

I have been a fan of Instacart for awhile...and even in the early stages of the pandemic I was able to secure the items on my list except for milk, eggs, bread...but I was happy with what I got....Now they are changing the rules on delivery and even changing dates and times without even notifying you ....  thankfully someone on the Forum here pointed out how her time changed and i checked and yep, they did the same to me....and I only order what I need for the week.... i do NOT hoard and think its so inconsiderate and rude of the those that do!!!   I dont know if hoarders decided to use the delivery services, or if people are just afraid to go to the store with lack of distancing and fear of catching the virus....or people just got tired of going to the store 2 or 3 times, only to find empty shelves ..Or Instacart employees quit and they are having a hard time hiring replacements. ... So delivery doesnt work anymore....I even checked for time slots for all the other services in my area and they are all pushed forward to 2 to 3 weeks ahead....people need food!   Everyone needs to show some consideration for others!!!

Laura it seems like a lot of ladies on here are getting their nerves frayed and understandly so. The Virus has made us prisoners in our own homes and fear is running rampant.  People are also going stir crazy the President said today in his conference. Hopefully everyone can get their groceries.  Worst comes to worse we always have QVC. (Pay 30 percent premiums on every item but at least its stocked !! )

@Reever I just finished playing bingo with ITKWD.  It's the silly things that keep a smile on your face in dark times.  I had the best time ridiculous as it is.  😂 Off to bed to do it all again tomorrow at work servicing others with those frayed nerves.

Have a great night all!

Those things have been happening in my area for a while now and most people have reported it makes shopping easier and they feel safer. Some have reported that if they go around 2:00pm, they have an easier time than going in the morning. Going after 4:00 is pretty bad.

We have been on limits for a while for all the good it does.  There is no food in stores.  Raleys and Safeway are bare.  Costco is one item of anything in the store.  I milk, one eggs, one or pants, etc.  good for them.   I send my granddaughter out because I have medical issues and ok, I'll say it  I am old.   According to Covid virus rules, I am 72, and well over the the age of seniorism.lol

this is my store  shelves at Raleys, it is sideways and can't correct it  but you get idea

@shoekitty, if you're shopping at Raley's you must live in the same general  area I do.   I tried their order online and drive to store and they bring it out.  I got maybe 1/4 of what I ordered and none of them were the things that are on the quick sell-out list.

Simply stay home people. I am shocked people are still out food shopping. People should have had a large selection of dried beans and lentils to get through a crisis.  I bet half the people at the supermarket are buying junk foods and chips !   Exposing people to the virus for no reason other than to get a bag of Lays chips is assinine.

Please be safe and use the delivery services.  I am using "Instacart" and they have been very reliable.

@Reever

You are a ray of sunshine today!.

Some people were not able to purchase $600 dollars worth of food.

Did you only buy dried beans and lentils?

It seems like people are trying to buy unnecessary things like, toilet paper, paper towels, eggs, chicken, cleaners

Count your blessings that you do not have shortages in your area. You may not have the coronavirus as bad there.

Count your blessings that you have a stockpile.

The instacart , delivery services and pickup work well for some people in some areas. They do not work for everyone.

It is really insensitive to name call others. Do not pretend to know what is happening everywhere else. Do not tell people there are no shortages when they can show you empty shelves in different stores.

I realize you may be stressed even though you are well stocked. I hope that you can rise above and be kinder to others.

I take my hat off to you @Laura14 .  To be working and have to contend with food shopping is rough.
