My family prefers 35 calorie bread, and my recent purchase of it was $3.19!   To me that is ridiculous.

When I lived at home, our family of 5 consumed a loaf of bread daily.   Mom packed 6 sandwiches every day for 4 lunches, toast for breakfast, and her lunch, which pretty much finished off the loaf.   During summer break, we could easily finish one and start on a second loaf of bread.

Back then, my mom made a monthly run to the local bread outlet store where she would buy 30 loaves of Betsy Ross Gay 90’s bread @ 30 cents a loaf!   We had a cardboard box to hold the bread in the trunk of the car and a cardboard box to hold it in the freezer.   My brother and I would help mom carry the full box of bread to the freezer in the basement, then pull the empty box out of the freezer and put it in the trunk for our next trip.   Betsy Ross bread usually sells for $2.89-$2.95 a loaf now.

Westchester County resident all my life.  I will cross that Mario Cuomo/Tappan Zee whatever you want to call it bridge, while the toll is still $5.  Love the Shops on 59 mall.

Hoping to move to Lewes, DE, area in next year or so.  Read a Wegman's is coming to Wilmington, DE, area!  Just in time for me!

@roeroe1005   Wow, I cant believe $5., to drive over a bridge.  That's one reason why I live in the West.  We dont have a single toll road or bridge in the whole state.  Talk about highway robbery!

I had no idea that you had no toll roads or bridges where you live @Kachina624 !  I live in Philadelphia, but my husband works in New Jersey and has to pay $5 5 days a week to cross the bridge.  Argh!

Regarding the surprise over our costly tolls
on our roads and bridges - we live in a very expensive area of the country because of our close proximity to NYC. People would flip if they saw what we pay in real estate taxes ! In my area the norm is $15-20K. Anyway, nice to learn and hear about the Q forum friends that live nearby including@ProudlyfromNJ, Roe , CelticCrafter.. @Roe- I also love the Shoppes at Nanuet + are there frequently. We probably have walked past each other.. 😊

@Citrine1.  I'm semi familiar with your situation as I spent my high school and college years in the Philly area.  We lived in Broomall.  I couldnt find the place now.  My sister still lives in Chester County.  I actually took several courses at West Chester University one summer.  Graduated from Kutztown University, Jane Treacy's alma mater.

@Pooky1.  I keep all my fruit, including bananas, in my attached garage in the winter.  Bananas will keep over 2 weeks.

I only wish.

We love Santa Fe.  It's such a great size and has most things available.   If not, there is always Alb. for some extras.   It's is large enough but feels cozy.  We love walking in the hills and to the Plaza.  Trying to get our 10,000 steps in every day.  I'm not close but DH is usually successful.

We were surprised by the early, cold, snowy winter as the last two weren't anything like this.  I tracked the weather most everyday before moving here.  Hopefully, next year will be warmer.

@Citrine1

We just moved from Downingtown in CC to New Mexico.  I think Chester County is one of the most beautiful places in the US.   But that wasn't enough to keep me there.   Smiley Wink    I worked in West Chester until last June.

I don't see much difference between grocery prices there and here.  Some things higher; some lower.  All are going up, it seems.

@Bridgegal.  I'm so glad you're happy in Santa Fe.  I think it has the perfect climate and it's such an interesting, historic place with fascinating people.

wow froggy. .99 cents for butter . i wish. regular price up hear in rhode island is regular 3.29 and if your really lucky you can find it on sale for 1.99 and thats very rare.

We lived in RI from 1999-2003 (loved it BTW). But we were always horrified at the price of a bunch of cilantro - I think it was around $3 at the time. We had just come from Calif where it was around .39.

I think a lot of prices depend on where you live also and the shipping cost to get the products to you. Also we tend to stock up on sale items.

I freeze my bread also - put it in a Lock & lock that holds a whole loaf and just take out what I need - bread thaws very fast.
