Grocery Item / Price Comparison

Last week, I bought a can of Bumble Bee Pink Salmon at D'Agostino's (local chain) supermarket. The price was close to $8.00.

Today - I was in Walgreen's - the same item was under $4 - same size can.  Bought two more!

(I love salmon burgers.)

Six weeks ago, I got a 4 pack of the 14 3/4 cans of pink salmon, it seems it was $13.00.

I buy my Oscar Mayer bacon from Walgreen's, when they have it on special (every couple of weeks).  Two packs for either $8 or $10, compared to $9.99 a pack in the supermarket.  And it counts towards my rewards.  Last month, I made two separate $10 purchases and got $7 back in rewards.

Who'd have thought Walgreen's would have a better price for something like that?  Now I always check.

I know during some of the toilet paper shortages and handsoap shortages, the Walgreens close to us always had plenty of both...and the price was high, but no higher than the few other stores who took advantage either. Home Depot also had tp...the last place I would have thought to check.

Target often has the best price on eggs and milk.

Re: Grocery Item / Price Comparison

On my last grocery trip for ground meat, two virtually identical packages, same weight, same "best by" date-- were over FOUR dollars different in price.  I could only think that one was packaged at the previous, lower cost per pound, and the other, which must have been ground and packaged at almost the same time, came in just after a huge hike in price per pound.

Unpleasant suprises like this have been increasing over the last many months, only now it is more disturbingly commonplace.

@Venezia Thank you for mentioning the Bacon is on sale at Walgreens! I've been craving a BLT sandwich and skipped it when I went to my regular store because it was so expensive. Off to get some from Walgreens!

@HonestLife - I hope you managed to get it.  I always check the weekly ad for it, as it's not always on sale.

New ads start on Sunday and I've learned to get to Walgreen's early to snap up this bargain as, where I am, it sells out quickly.  And I've been told our local Walgreen's get deliveries on Thursdays, so I check after that, if there's none at the beginning of the week.
