Great interview with Patty Duke's son

This is a really fantastic interview with her son - he is an impressive man and clearly loved and respected his mother.

Wow that is so young to die now.  I wish we knew more about this condition ...ruptured colon.  So sad.  She died too young even though they tried to save her.

Having had many colon problems and diverticulitis, I live in fear of this happening.

Her son said she'd had several major health issues in the last few years; I imagine they all worked together and weakened her, unfortunately. I knew she'd had heart surgery a while back.

Re: Great interview with Patty Duke's son

I posted much of this info earlier today on the ongoing thread about her death - I didn't feel a new thread was necessary.

Thank you for posting the link.  What an incredible son to have.  His words were very helpful to me as I lost a loved one 3 weeks ago.

I had an episode of diverticulitis in February - absolutely miserable.  It was located in my upper colon - the pain was on the right side - so I diagnosised myself as a sick appendix.  I was thinking the trip to the ER was going to be in and out (the appendix that is).  I was hospitalized for 3 days.  I still have a little pain and mild issues.  Miserable - my sympathies go out to you Toria08.

Re: Great interview with Patty Duke's son

Just had a bout of diverticulitis and was in the hospital a total of 11 days on 3 IV antibiotics.  Was diagnosed with a "micro perforation" and will need surgery as soon as possible.

Patty's death announcement REALLY made my day!

Re: Great interview with Patty Duke's son

I never knew that Patty Duke met Helen Keller (forgive me if I should have posted this on another thread or if this has already been discussed...Also, I didn't have time to do a thorough verification, but I believe they did meet)...
