I am an absolute HUGE supporter of rap. Kayne is an idiot. He has had some good work but when he goes around trying to make himself seem as complicated as a rubix cube, he looks like an idiot. I can think of off the top of my head a dozen rappers more talented than he is. They have one more quality that makes them more likeable too, humility.

To do what he did to Beck is despicable. Beck wrote or composed every song on his album along with playing 10 different instruments on this album. That is a musician who absolutely doesn't suffer from mediocrity and if Kayne would get his head out of his a $ $ he would see the person he had the nerve to insult is 20x's the musician he could ever hope to be.

Irishgirl, what did Kanye do?

He started to pull the same thing that he did with Taylor Swift a couple of years ago and then later said that Beck should give his grammy to Beyonce. Kayne said he needed to respect artistry. If writing/composing all the songs and playing nearly all the instruments on an album doesn't equate to artistry, I don't know what does. I have given him some slack in the past but Beck is a musician not just a performer. He has musical talent that Kayne could never dream of.

Thanks, Irish. I fast fwd through a lot of the grammys usually and that is a part I missed.

No problem. I usually ignore his outbursts because I think it is for the most part theatre but it really made me mad when he said he should respect artistry. Beck is all about the artistry.

I'm a Kanye supporter...I enjoy his work....but even I have to say that wasn't the venue to convey his message. Beck's work is relevant, so calling him out was the wrong choice. Taking everything out, I understand what he's TRYING to say. Mediocrity is killing the music industry.

beyonce would fall under that category. she sings great but she's not a writer or musician. she's an entertainer.

I agree. She is a great perfomer, as in singer and dancer but if Kayne thinks mediocrity is killing the music industry when you compare Becks credentials and Beyonces you see where the mediocrity lies.

Re: Grammy Discussion - Possible Spoilers

Apparently Beck wholeheartedly agrees with K.West and said so in an interview.

He's either got white man's guilt, he's afraid of K.West or he knows K.West has a mental disorder and can't help himself.

OR.........Maybe, just maybe, Beck chose not to wallow in West's mud and engage Kanye further. Instead, he took the magnanimous high road and came out looking a million times more a man than Kanye ever could. Respecting artistry for Kanye apparently doesn't cut both ways. What a colossal fool. Re: Grammy Discussion - Possible Spoilers

Hmm, unless I missed it here...

NOT EVEN ONE mention of Jeff Lynne & E.L.O. doing "Evil Woman", and along with the great Ed Sheeran, "Mr. Blue Sky" ???

I was/am a huge E.L.O. fan - Jeff is now 67, sounds great, and can still hit falsetto notes.

The vocalists and musicians with him - including original E.L.O.pianist/keyboardist Richard Tandy - were also fantastic. And there's talk of the band getting back together and possibly touring.

BTW, when Jeff played in London last fall, it was his first time in 25 or 30 years in front of a live audience!

If you missed it, Google the video and CRANK IT UP! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

Re: Grammy Discussion - Possible Spoilers

He definately took the high road but I wish someone would put him in his place. Kanye only goes after the whimpy/weak people that won't defend themselves.

He's obsessed with Beyonce.

I think Grammys have awarded the most popular artists (which is actually not how it started out to be) that sell the most or are the most popular in the country, not the most musically talented. Why he agreed with it I have no idea. He definitely took the high road and that is something Kayne could learn to do once in a while.
