My child had his high school graduation this week. His class was over 500 students. We got to see a mix of people in the crowd. Most were polite and followed the rules.
They asked that no one applaude until all the names had been read. They go through the names very fast and there is no time between them.
So, there were the groups that ignored that and cheered or yelled things at their child then of course the families after that would likely not hear their childs name read due to the noise.
What is wrong with people?
Oh yeah, where I was sitting one group that yelled didn't bother to find a seat and were hanging in the walkways through the ceremony, talking, texting and goofing off during the entire ceremony except when their relatives name was read.
