Got Any "home remedies" for a Toothache??

I went to the dentist Monday and am on antibiotics and Lortab for pain. Neither seem to be working. I just called pharmacist to refill pain meds and told her the pain seems to have settled on a top back tooth that has already had a root canal!! W*T*Heck??? She told me root canals can fail. I did NOT know that. My dentist is away til Monday.

800 mg of ibuprophen seems to work better but is not stomach friendly!

What else can I do til I see endodontist?? Do you have to pull a tooth with a failed root canal??
