Just to settle the washer/no washers at Goodwill, it varies.

I worked for many years for Goodwill Industries of Akron and while we didn't wash clothing before sale, the Goodwill in Ashtabula did wash all the clothing. It was done by clients in training for jobs in laundries at places like hospitals, or the service industry.

It's expensive and time consuming and not something most Goodwills do anymore, but there are most likely one or two out there still doing it for training purposes.

I dropped off three bags of clothes today, some my husbands, more of mine. But I counted 19 things I got from QVC and of those 19, 11 of them I hardly wore - waste of money. I am determined to be more mindful of what I buy, that I really need it and will wear it. I gave away some liquid knit tops - I am just not enamoured with it anymore.

We have a place here that puts priority on the town where I live.  They usually take clothing and food donations and then provide the items to community members in need that live in this town.

They put out an email and advertised on their Facebook page they are in desperate need of food items but not taking any clothing dontations at this time.  They just do not have the staff especially with reduced capacity at this time to handle the clothing donations.  So I may donate what I have at this time to either Salvation Army or Goodwill.  I always wash clothing items I donate.  Never thought about it.  My mother always did, so guess I just followed her lead.

I did take food donations up there one day this past week and the lady that volunteers there said she has never seen such a high demand for food.  Guess I will be adding other items to my grocery list this week and take some more up there to them.
