  • Have you ever been out and about shopping or dining and hear a song from the piped-in music that you like but don't know the name of the song? Or maybe you hear it on the radio and like it but don't know the name. Happens to me often when I'm out and about or dining. I would like to add this song to my playlist on my Google devices via YouTube music. There is an app called SoundHound. I've been using it for several years. Identifying the song is not the part that I find incredible, it's the app's ability to hear the music over ambient noise. If I'm at a restaurant and hear a song, I pick up my phone tap on the app hold the phone above my head till SoundHound gives me the results. You can add it to your phone's playlist, Alexa or Google's playlist.

You can also search for a song title using a line from the song. One that's repeated works best, but sometimes a key word will help the internet search engine of your choice find the song. That's how I found a song by Zella Day titled The Outlaw Josey Wales. I just typed in Josey Wales.  First hit was the movie, but when I added song I got Zella.

Yes, I've done that as well.  Mostly when I'm home tho.  I find the app easier to use when out and about.  My house is full of Google Homes.  If I'm in a room with one that doesn't have a screen, all I do is say, "Hey Google, what's playing?".  What a great time we live in with technology.  What will it be like in 30 years??  I see AI developments being key to helping all of us in various ways.  I know, there are "bad" parts of AI but you can say that about nearly everything from tv to foods.

I know I am the odd man out but I am not a big fan of music....generally to loud, to repetitive, etc.  Once in a while I find myself enjoying a song but not often.

Re: Good morning ladies/music

Some years ago DH & i were having breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I went to the restroom, and heard a country song that just pulled at my heart! No idea who was singing it, but I heard one phrase often enough to remember it til I got home. Got on YouTube, typed it in the search bar and voila!

The song was "When Someone Stops Loving You" by Little Big Town--the phrase I rembered was acttually the title of the song. It's still on my playlist!
