So I live in an apartment that has central air conditioning, which I don't like as it cools off rooms your not using. I was wondering what is a good number to set the thermostat at to save money? I looked it up online and it was recommended 78 degrees which seems too warm to me. I think I'll set it for 74 degrees, what do you think?

Mine is set at 75 but when it gets really hot outside then I lower it to 73 b/c otherwise it won't keep my house cool enough for me.

My A/C guy once told me 75 was the perfect temperature, but I would roast at that temp.

I keep mine on 70/72

We just got our electricity bill, it is over 500 and the weather has been unseasonably cool and we have solar!  I think I will raise it from 73/74.

I always keep mine at 78, but I also have fans in rooms I most frequent. I turn them on and it circulates the air well. I always sleep with one on, too. 78 used to seem too warm for me, too, but I have gotten use to it and it now feels comfortable.

It's really kept my energy use down. On power player reports, I'm usually only around 14 out of 100 for energy usage. It makes me happy to conserve energy whenever I can. Wish everyone would, to lower the risk of power outages.

I would keep mine at 65, but it would run constantly!

@on the bay If I had mine on 67 here in TX (103 here today), it would probably never cycle off. It's on a lot during the hottest part of the day, at 78.

I keep mine on 72 upstairs and run fans and don't touch it all summer.  Downstairs unit runs on 75 all summer with fans going.  Really helps when you don't keep flipping the thermostat up and down.
