Years ago I was 5'6".  Yep, years ago.  Last year I measured 5'3 1/2.  Go for my annual next month & I bet there's another inch lost.  Thank goodness my tall granddaughter lives with me and when I need something I can call - "hey, tall person----"

When they are measuring you, make sure you stand with your heels against the wall.  My doctor's assistant pointed that out to me.

@Biftu, If I can't find someone that worked at the store to reach that top shelf, I look for the kindest looking face around and ask for help.  One time I had to ask a gentleman in a different aisle for help and apologized for asking him to walk to where I needed him.  He said that actually, I was helping him feel good because he loved helping people.  So we both were happy.  I've always been four ft eleven in my adulthood.  Now I'm an inch shorter.

I've always been short.    People have given me "names" that I didn't appreciate...

It may also be posture that worsens...

Ohhh, my BF got one of those "grabber gadgets" when he was in physical therapy a few years ago.  He never has to use it but I've found that I LOVE it.

If not using it for reaching for items, I can chase the pooch with it and get my exercise. LOL

NO..this formal dress need a foot, 12 inches. It's drapery but when I put it on I had a drape around my ankles...so the seamstress measured and is cutting and redrawing.
Thank you for the tutorial though lolol

Grocery shopping is becoming difficult at my height.  I have the worse time reaching items on the top shelves.  I've dangerously stepped on the bottom shelf just to get what I need.  If I get luckily someone is around to reach it for me.  Any shorter and I will need to carry one of those long handled reachers with me!

@Biftu  I try to find a long item hanging along the aisle - maybe tongs or a wooden spoon or handeled scrubber. I reach as high as I can and try to knock down the item I want. It usually works, but if that doesn't work, I rely on the kindness of strangers. Smiley Frustrated

@PA Mom-mom  I do that too!

@Mmsfoxxie  I hear you.  I was 5'1" now I'm 5'.  How low can we go?!!  It can be tough to be a munchkin.

@katie1859 started out life at 5ft 1.5" now holding at 5ft.  The shelving I have scaled over the years probably puts me near the top of Mt. Everest and a few others.  I think I was a Sherpa in another life.   Being short to start with I've clung with a death grip on my spine to every 1/4 of an inch.  There are very few people I have not looked up toSmiley Happy I use a step stool to reach the bottom of my washer.  I have come close to actually falling in trying to reach a sock.   And forget the top two shelves of my cabinets.  Anything up there will only come down after I die.  Lol.
     All those years trying to avoid shrinking my clothes, and now I know how that cotton T-shirt felt after it accidentally was put in the dryer!
