I'm taking care of my Mom's golden retriever for a few weeks. He's so darn cute and sweet!
Anyway, I've noticed him scratching like crazy. He doesn't seem to have fleas, so after careful examination, I found 3 areas of hot spots. I called my Mom who told me he's only had them once before, last Summer in fact. She told me her vet said to place a warm black tea bag on the areas. She did that last time and it worked. I tried this on the areas and it seems to be working for two of them, but the other area (the larger area on hind paw) isn't healing as well. I feel so bad watching him scratch like that. I was thinking of taking him to the vet next week...any additional suggestions in the meantime. I know this could mean he might have allergies, is that right? The food he eats is Merrick wet & dry (he eats twice daily with servings broken up). His dog cookies are natural ones. He's 8 years old and as active as a puppy. LOL!
Any supplement suggestions as well? Thanks!
