Brand new thanks to tax payers money.....State of the art...self checkout, all computerized now. They have at least a hundred computers for public use with free printing. All kinds of siting space....windows...couches.. even a snack area with cold drinks and food in vending machines. I was amazed!
As I was looking through the books I realized that I had not read a book in a very long time. With TV, computer, and IPad access, I just quit reading books. I use to read a lot. I did find two books to checkout as did my husband. He just retired two weeks ago and also had not read a good book for many years when he was so busy working. Now he should have time to relax and read.
My questions for you is: Do you find that with the internet and iPad and computer you do not read books any more or at least much less? Just wondering if it is a side effect of the stimulation that the computer provides.
In Alabama, each county has their own library cooperative. I have a card in 2 counties. I love a library. Even the small libraries are like you describe. I don't read often & when I do, I buy the book used or at a discount, like at Sam's Club. I like to read and re-read. I use my library mostly for non-fiction. Cookbooks, craft books. The libraries also have a huge selection of DVDs. I've borrowed TV series from HBO. I don't have HBO but I've seen every episode of Dexter, for example. I also borrow movies and different DVDs for the grandkids.
I have a tablet and it just doesn't interest me. My job requires me sitting at a computer all day, maybe that's why. I just don't enjoy looking at a screen in my free time.

I read books, but get them used at second hand book stores or new Harlequin romances at Kmart then trade them in at the bookstore later. I don't like having a due date I need to finish by as I sometimes get in the mood for paranormal then let one sit unfinished for a bit. My library doesn't carry some Harlequins, at least not all varieties.

I go to the library monthly. I check out 4 to 5 books each time. I would be lost without a book to read.

Wow, I could have written this word for word, my sentiments exactly. Brilliant minds think alike.

Me too, books only, always.

I read only books...those things that you hold in your hand and turn the pages. :-)

I have always loved to read, but even more so now. My DH recently passed away, and reading does help to fill the void. Often I will read until 3 or 4 in the morning.

Our Library resides in a old leased double wide mobile office on donated land.. We have 3 computers in there. Which is nice for the home school families especially. Not alot of books to choose from but they will search other Libraries am
and get books you request.
It took years of Voting to finally pass a levy for the Library,so I feel fortunate we have one at all.

I've used the library, since I was a child. It's a wonderful place. The books aren't bad either! ![]()
