Going to a funeral tomorrow.....need your advice.

My very dear friend lost her husband to cancer and the service is tomorrow. My problem is going to be with another woman who is also going to be there. (We belong to a Book Club together). This woman, no matter the discussion, always brings the topic back to her: her widowhood, her health, her children, etc.) She commandeers every situation to focus the attention on her.

My problem? Is there something that I can say to her (kindly) that will help her to comfort my friend? I don't want to start a problem. but I know what she's going to do. I honestly think that no matter what is said, she won't get it. I just want to be there for my friend.
