I'm going to have to find the cash I got from my last bank robbery. At my age, my memory is getting worse every day.

I pay cash now, whenever possible. And as far as the IRS ... how are they going to know? That law mostly applies to car dealerships. As Americans, we still have a few (very few) rights. I can still buy a car from my neighbor, and pay cash. I'm not doing anything illegal.

No cash for me unless it's a small purchase.

I have a fear of going through the grocery checkout and having to subtract items because I didn't have enough money with me.

Cash transactions of $10,000.01 (add the penny) are required to be reported to the IRS under money laundering statutes.

Most people who need to move that kind of cash do so using your bank's wire transfer. It's safe and many banks don't charge to use it. You send your cash from your bank to their bank and it arrives in minutes.

That said, the last time I was at the dealership getting service for my vehicle there was a man in his 80's paying all cash for a new Cadillac. All in small bills.

His sales rep was all too happy to help him count it. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

The only time I use cash is for yard sales.

not me! but my DH has always believed that cash is king! he does not have a CC or even a bank card. no checks either. even when we buy big ticket items he will pay in cash - and i am looking over my shoulder to make sure nobody is following us home!{#emotions_dlg.lol} the looks on the salesperson's face kills me every single time!

People who pay for expensive items with cash are suspected of getting that cash from illegal business like dealing drugs.

What the Heck ............ drug dealers??? Where in the heck do you live? If I find something I really want that is very expensive, I can "always" go to the bank or ATM and withdraw the CASH and go back to the store!!! I would never pay cash for something in the thousand of dollars!!!

I have actually thought about doing this myself! I thought I was safe with Target since I had not shopped there during the period mentioned, but now they are saying, it could have been years ago!

Also, thinking about only using PayPal for my CC charges online!

Hooty, that sounds like a good idea, but I just wonder if the credit card attached to your Paypal account could be compromised even though the payment is going through Paypal? It's the same card either way. Would you happen to know?

We try to use cash for a lot of things.......but they are making it more and more difficult. I brought something back to Williams Sonoma that my husband had bought me for Christmas. I had to wait almost 2 weeks for a check to come because he paid cash for it!

We might find ourselves having to ""go back"" to a lot of things in the next decade.

No, I like the points rewards I get on my credit card.

As do I.

Me, too. We save a bundle with the Target red card, and last year I saved at least half off an expensive camera for my daughter with Amazon points.

I refuse to have a debit card. Too easy access to my money. I know you can complain and get it put back but who needs the hassle? I use one credit card and check my account online daily to make sure there are no errors or unauthorized charges. Also I get a reward check every month.

I don't want to go back to cash. I may want to buy something but not have enough money on me. Also the issue of losing it or being mugged (I live in the city).
