I work for a school and one of the lunch aides will be leaving in June. It was not her choice, but the principal decided not to renew her contract. I have known her for 7 years and would like to get her something upon her leaving. Any suggestions. I was thinking a Dunkin Donuts gift card or lottery tickets. What do you think?

If she likes Dunkies that is a great choice, I am not so crazy about lottery tickets, chances are there will not be a winner and your gift money is wasted. Perhaps 1 ticket in with the DD gift card?
I'd be thrilled with a GC to DD

If she likes DD, I think that would be very sweet! Maybe tuck it inside a cute friendship-type travel mug.

Starbucks, Target, Dunkin, all good gift cards to give!

I would get her a quality mug, not from China, and include a note about how much I've enjoyed knowing her. The mug will remind her that she was appreciated especially since leaving wasn't her choice.

Just a mug and a note? after all those years? I like the idea of DD (IF you know she'd like it) or a Target GC. Very nice of you.

I could say, just an impersonal gift card from some store.
I did post a quality mug, not one from China. The mug I meant would come in a box. Apparently you buy your mugs at Walmart.

Honeybunch, you couldn't PAY me to set foot in a Walmart! I still think a mug, no matter how nice, is just very mundane and impersonal.
But YOU enjoy your mug

I have a different take. Her contract was not renewed so basically she is being let go. It doesn't sound like a moment to celebrate with a gift. She may appreciate you treating her to lunch separate from the worksite or something like that. Just a thought.

Im with EGW........just treat her to lunch.
