That blanket statement does not hold true.
Where I live, there are accounts set up in banks for people suffering a great loss, and THEY DID NOT ASK. They are set up by friends or other community people.

Many of us are part of a religion that calls on us to help the poor. It doesn't say "but only if they do not ask for help."
Sure, there are limits on what we are able to do, and sure, some are con artists, but I don't understand the anger toward the needy, and for sure, it is always present on this board, one way or another.

Yep, it didn't start out that way, but it ended up that way and went bye-bye shortly after.

Yes, I understand that - and did when I posted previously. The part of my post that you did NOT bold was meant to make that clear.

Yes, the greedy needy. They make a mess of everything, with their growly stomachs and dirty hands. Always looking to scam. Always looking to get something for nothing.
Good thing charity is not mandatory. Imagine the complaining then? Oh, right. Taxes.

I don't give to any go funds. I know the gofund "game" which honestly may not apply to all the posters but I have a good lesson as to why I don't give.
A metro bus driver died and his daughter had insurance but she set up a good fund so OTHERS would pay for the funeral then she KEPT the money from the insurance to pay her bills, etc. That taught me a lesson, people are asking not because they might not have it, some are asking because they don't want to "SPEND" their money but if you can pay the expense for them they are happy.
Another example, my husband's brother is a "professional student" which is another Federal scam, you just keep getting grants and stay in school and then your wife works or you live somewhere cheap and the grant money is your spending money.
In any event, he is a would be movie producer and he had a go fund for his movie production, yet as we heard through the family grapevine, he has no script, no director, no nothing, it was just a scam to get money.
I'm sure many of you might of heard of the boy who got shot in some gang action due to his father, the boy was living with his grandmother when he was shot, yet the mother and father set up seperate go funds. People where on line talking about 1) the boy did not even live with the parents - the grandmother had all the expenses, apparently the parents were street, drug types and they set up a fund to get free money and 2) the newspaper in chicago found out that the mother use the money to purchase a car while not paying for the funeral or any of the expenses.
