Glitter glue pen questions

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'm hoping that posting this in this forum will help me get some answers about glitter glue pens.

I'm wondering this: if the pens have glitter glue in them, what are they for?

If I was to just "write" on a paper surface with the glue and let it dry, will it show up just as glitter?

I guess I don't understand what glitter glue does. Glue usually isn't "seen" once it's used, so what's the purpose of having glitter in it?

I found some cheap ones and want to decorate some gift bags for the holiday, so this will probably be a one time effort.
