I have said before that I am not a big fan of TempTations, and I have seen many posts that cited broken items due to poor packaging, as well as orders (for any type of item, not just TempTations..) that arrive with no return slip.

Last week there was a 9x12 baker with a lid presented on ITKWD.  They have a pattern called Woodland which is about as close to a plain solid color design as I could hope for.

There was also a Taupe color, which is straight up my alley.  It was kind of a "You had me at hello" sort of thing.  I ordered it, along with a 10" Green Pan I liked.

These things arrived within 5 days, and the TempTations was packaged about as safely and securely as could be.  Styrofoam  and heavy plastic bag in a thick cardboard box, and with a very detailed return slip!  The Green Pan was in the same box and was also well packaged.

Other than the fact that the stoneware baker weighs about 2 and 1/2 ounces less than a Steinway concert grand piano, I really love both items, and look forward to using them often.  Kudos QVC for swift service, careful and thorough packaging, and 2 very nice products.

I think that Tara is missing out on a sales opportunity, though.  As part of the annual

January fitness "New Year, New You"  campaign, they could show this baker building great pecs with repeated use.  Watch for my new show  "The Buff Old Geezer"  on the Food Channel this Fall.

Re: Giving credit when due....

I have purchased many of Tara's items that developed black crazing, some without ever being in an oven or freezer.

Re: Giving credit when due....

I don't find it any heavier than the other stoneware pieces I have.

I haven't had any crazing or cracking.

At this price point, I am NOT expecting the painting to be the Sistine Chapel and if it crazed a bit, I wouldn't fuss too much over it.  Esp if I got it on sale and free shipping.

All Temp I have received have been packed to the hilt.  Tons of styro, taped, expertly packed.  Have to kinda work to get them out!!

Yet 2 pieces I received we smashed inside to bits.

Can NOT blame Sara, Temptations OR QVC for that.

Clearly, UPS tossed it, dropped it or threw it against the wall in transit.

I've only ever had 2 Temp-tations pieces crack.  Both times I did something with them they specifically said not to do.

Re: Giving credit when due....

I have several Temp-tations casseroles that I use quite often, they're still in perfect condition. Never had a piece arrive broken--like others said, they are very well-packaged.

I have never put mine in the freezer, though, so that may make a difference. And I never put them in the oven straight from the fridge--I let them sit at room temp for 30 minutes or so. If they are still really cold, I put them in the oven while it's preheating so they can warm up with the oven. So far, so good! My pieces are Old World and Floral Lace.
