is this going to be a fun hobby, or a business where she's making good money?

This is a business but she's made baskets as a hobby and given them to friends and family for birthday's. She gave me a fruit basket for my BD last year including apples, oranges and a few pieces of chocolates and it was very nice. Her baskets are beautiful !

@Goodie2shoes Maybe a fun hobby but she should do market research and see if there is actually a market for her goods. A hobby doesn't always translate into a profitable business. And she should look at the percentage of businesses that fail in the first year.

How about a basket for pets? Like dog treats and toys.

Re: Giving and/or receiving Gift Baskets

We have given gift baskets to friends and family for as long as I can remember.  Great gift idea.

Because we frequently travel to our favorite White Mountains hotel we make up gift baskets for the staff at holiday time.

The valets are always on the move, helping with luggage and moving cars in all types of weather.  Inside their basket are hand and feet warmers, energy bars, snacks that are quick to grab and eat and candy.  They leave it on the outside desk for all the valets to enjoy.

For the front desk and other staff we make up a big basket with assorted flavored crackers, jams, spreads, teas, candy, and snacks.  Things that they can eat on their breaks.   Many of the items we get locally made to make the baskets.  Stonewall Kitchen, local chocolates, etc.  It is a nice way to show our appreciation for how well they take care of us when we stay there.

Wishing your friend well in her new endeavor.
