This is the best thing I have read in a long time. So interesting. Crows bring gifts to this little girl.

Neat story. Is it possible the mom is putting out these items?

I had a pet crow growing up- My brother trained birds, falcons etc- Greatest pet I ever had
Crows are amazing and so smart- ours would swoop down and take peoples keys as they walked up our driveway and then take them to his "spot" (in the back yard)-he would retrieve them on command!!
To this day, I still feel that crows are my good luck charm....

Are crows & black birds the same thing?
Every Fall, around Octoberish, certain areas of town attracts a SEA of black birds/crows. Literally, thousands of birds in one area around dusk for several weeks. Just part of their migration, but does anyone else see this?

Crows are very hard working birds. They are considered the most intelligent of birds. The Native Americans respect them for their ways and many talents. I had a crow or two trade with me. It would drop an item and then I would provide some food/treat. One must gain their trust and never abuse it or they will not ever trust you. Considered a highly spiritual creature.

Crows and black birds are 2 different kinds of birds. The crow is larger in size.

Thanks. On that note, I saw a crow the other day....it was HUGE! About the length of my forearm & round!! I know the saying "Eat Crow", but I wonder if people really DO eat those birds...crazy big!!! And smart, as well, as I learned from this thread!!

Crows were one of the first birds affected with West Nile Virus by us. Then the blue jays got it. So now I see blue jays making a comeback here by us on LI but very few crows. We used to have a murder of crows in a sycamore of my neighbor's but when WNV came, that murder disappeared.

No. The article states that crows leave gifts, but not always. They also received some gifts they tossed - one was a crab claw that was decomposed.
Nice little story.
