Re: Gift for girl age 12-14?

Girls that age love Target.  She can pick out almost anything she likes there.

A gift card would be so appreciated, I’m sure

How about a cuddly blanket? Since it's through church, what about

a girls teen study bible?

Under those circumstances (going to shelter), I would not give a gift card.   But gloves, warm hats, a nice throw  (they can be purchased very inexpensively).   I would give things that would be used by her - a gift card could be used for others.

since it is going to a girl in a homeless shelter and you really dont know what, if any, religion the young girl is, it is probably best NOT to give a bible.

School supplies such as pens, paper, lined notebooks. Mixed nuts (protein) in individual baggies for snacks. Warm robe, slippers. Reading material recommended for pre-teens by B&N. Burts Bees lip gloss and Nuetrogena facial wipes. A back pack and pad-lock for school.

Remember she may not have any electronics to pay any music or movie on. Give her something she needs and will appreciate. Stay away from gift cards; she probably has not learned the best use for money. Thanks for helping her!

@BirkiLady, great minds think alike. I would also include a nice hat, scart and glove set.  $40-$50 can buy some lovely things that a teenager would appreciate. Include a throw also.

The gloves, hat, scarf and throw were great ideas. I had to think long and hard to beat those! You'll be giving a pre-teen some very, very much appreciated gifts, which I'm sure she either doesn't have or needs replaced (and doesn't have the funds to do so). Isn't it a good feeling to remove a name from a tree and help someone? So glad you are helping that young lady! Merry Christmas to you and yours! Tuck a note in her gift that your friends wish her a Merry Christmas, too!

Gift cards will not work for people in the homeless shelter since they often don't have transportation to get to the stores.

I am agreeing with other posters that cute hat, gloves, and twin size blankets will be really nice.  And perhaps also add a personal care gift set.  The teens I know all love to smell good.  The Body Shop have these gifts sets now on sale for only $14.  But you can probably find similar products in TJMAXX or stores like that.strawberry-festive-picks-1-640x640.jpg

I have a feeling a gift card could easily fall into the hands of a greedy parent.
