Friday will be my last day at physical therapy.  I've been going for 8 weeks.  Would you get the physical therapist a gift for the last day.  It's also the Christmas season so dont know if I should get a gift or just say thank you for all your help and leave it at that.  Thanks for your opinion.

I wouldn't get a gift for a medical professional, but that's just me.  It wouldn't even occur to me.

Just a thank you holiday card; or a thank you card and a gift card.  Even a small one would be fine.

@joann1218

I would write a letter/note and send a copy to the PT's supervisor.  In the note I would say a sincere thank you for regaining mobility (or whatever you went there for) and if they have a website, leave a positive review with a shout out for the PT with whom you worked.

@joann1218......that's something I think you need to make a decision on.  But you could get her a gift card to a local bakery......she might like to get a stolen for breakfast......or some cookies.....whatever.....

As a healthcare provider, little gifts of appreciation are always welcomed.  Doesn’t have to be fancy, plant, gift certificate to restaurant, fresh baked cookies.  That’s very thoughtful of you!

There’s no straight answer.

Gift People will say ‘yes’.

Non-Gift People will say ‘no’.

Sometimes a business transaction is just that...

a business transaction...no more; no less.

I think if you gave her a holiday card with a appreciative message would be nice. If you felt like you developed a closeness than maybe a $10 gift card to a near by lunch place also.

I'm thinking the same.  I wouldn't give a gift.  If you feel you want to, nothing wrong with that.  A card with a note and a gift card for the local coffee shop.

Re: Gift for Physical Therapist

If you decide to do something, please make it goodies or something for the whole clinic. It’s very uncomfortable to be in the position of refusing a gift from a patient, and monetary gifts such as a gift card most likely will have to be turned down. A personal note or positive review to a supervisor will be most welcomed I’m sure.
