Re: Gift For School Bus Drver?

My kids are seniors, so they drive to school, but they haven't given the bus driver a gift since probably elementary school, but I see no harm in it and it's a nice gesture no matter what grade.

Our school district does not allow cash or gift cards from students to teachers. If the bus driver is an employee of a city,county, or state, cash and gift cards would not be allowed here.

I don't think many high schoolers give bus drivers a gift.  It stops after elementary school.  If you want to give a gift I would suggest a gift card that could be handed over discreetly so as not to embarrass your daughter.

High school students give gifts to bus drivers, and no discretion is necessary,

@mom2four0418 I have high school boys.  Believe me if I tell them to give their bus driver a gift I'm going to get a lot of push back and they is NO WAY will want other kids on the bus to see them hand it over.  We live in a very nice suburban area.

Exactly!

I can see a teen being a bit embarrassed giving a wrapped gift to the bus driver.  I card with gift inside is so much easier and probably appreciated more.

My son is a junior. He’s a culinary student at our county career center. He baked fruit cakes this past weekend for his teacher, bus driver, and the school nurse (his knife skills needed some work) and is diligently basting them in brandy until he can wrap them up and gift them next week.

@RollTide2008 Sounds like he had a great time making the cakes with someone to give them too! Smiley Happy

Gifts can be in an envelope, but your boys should certainly not do it if they feel uncomfortable.

Teenaged boys embarrassed by an act of appreciation, kindness. Disappointed in them.

My daughter is in high school.  First time riding the bus (she walked to middle school).  Are gifts to the school bus driver okay at the high school level for the holidays?

@ScrapHappy

Unless I knew enough about the driver to select something they would actually use, I'd stick with a gift card for maybe $10 .... for Starbucks or Target.
