Yes. They are related to my mother-in-law who…still walks this earth. She is their leader.

Re: Giant Lizards Invading South Carolina?

There's always something new. I kind of figure these days the ice age, global warming, bed bugs, spotted lantern fly, killer bees, the hole in the ozone layer, and all of the rest of the earlier stuff that was going to kill us will kill all of the new stuff that's going to kill us, so it's all a wash. I just go on about my normal life until proven otherwise. If I should stumble upon a giant lizard at some point, I'll make a note of it, but until then, whatever.

Re: Giant Lizards Invading South Carolina?

I am a bit of a lizard fan.  They eat mosquitoes. If they are bigger, like the size of one's hand, you don't want them inside, but I have a lot of tiny lizards (endangered by the new exotics),

These small little lizards eat insects on the patio and around the outer doors.  Circle of life stuff, really: they don't do any harm.  They are so sun-sensitive that on a sunny day they look like touriists in a travel commercial. I've thought of offering them tiny sunglasses.

Lizards can be bad for cats who eat them: my vet told me that some lizards have an enzyme in their bodies that can torch a cat's liver.  My cat, however, is a pacifist, having raised three kits in the wild while losing her coat to fleas and her teeth to neglect.  Live and let live, is the cat's motto.  I had a plague of rats this summer, and she monitored them but felt her own food was preferable to confronting a rat, which she clearly showed she didn't like....

@Estellee I dont know why but I am very afraid of Iguanas........I don't think they will bother you, but when my niece lived in Curacao for 4 years they had some huge Iguanas that would come into their backyard and sun themselves on her wall.......

@CANDLEQUEEN We have them all over the place. I notice they run away not toward people. Still, the big ones are a little scary.

IMG_3487.pngThey are an invasive species here in Florida and have spread across the state. They are quickly spreading across the southern U.S. Next thing you know we'll have anacondas here in FL. Above Tegu map is from 2021.

Re: Giant Lizards Invading South Carolina?

@Mindy D Years ago we started seeing small lizards, now these huge iguanas. What's next, gators roaming throughout the neighborhood. Bad enough they are all over the everglades which isn't all that far away when you think of it.
