Getting rain from tropical storm Cindy

here in Indiana - looks like it will rain most of the day.  Glad I put my grass seed out in my yard yesterday!  Love all the rain we get here - keeps it nice and green.

Re: Getting rain from tropical storm Cindy

I woke up to thunder in Chicago this morning around 4:30am.  Dawn never broke as it was nighttime dark until around 7:00am as heavy rain fell.  It's still raining, but now it's just the calming patter of rainfall.  I love rain.  We have a couple of local news meteorologists who talk about rain with the respect it deserves, but so manyof them treat rain like an unwelcome guest at a party.  It is a vital factor for the environment.

My heart goes out to those affected by the impact of devastation from Tropical Storm Cindy.  My previous statement about normal rain is a separate issue from hurricanes, tornadoes, and tropical storms.

It was already raining here in SW Pa. when I woke at 6:30. We have had rain every day since we arrived in Pa last week, and everything is certainly green.

I'm in Chicago too.

We were listening to the news last night and they said it was supposed to get very windy - 50 or 60 mph.  My husband took down the umbrella and moved the lawn chairs.  We never did get high winds, but it was thundering and lightening early this morning.  It's just a light rain right now.

@Bri36, yesterday evening reacting to the forecast, I also removed small pots from tables on my patio and placed them under a bench in fear that they were going to be blown off and broken.  The wind was whipping pretty good then, but certainly not gusting.  The dangerous gusts fizzled before they passed through the inner city.  Maybe some of the northern suburban areas and towns experienced more gusts, as our storm came in from the north.

In the Detroit northern suburbs it was windy and hot all yesterday and then started raining in buckets in the early evening and on and off all night. More coming.  The streets in my sub are flooded. Worried about people's basements!

Water levels on Lake St. Clair are very high. Next week is forecasting to be much cooler.

We are supposed to get that rain this afternoon into tomorrow (New Jersey).  It's a shame because our high school's graduation ceremony is to take place today outdoors at 3 pm.  If it's moved indoors due to weather, all are packed into the sweltering gym.

When my son graduated it was outdoors but a hot sunny day and we were sweltering just the same.  No use complaining, we can't control the weather.  The students will graduate all the same.

We are supposed to get some rain this weekend and few days following............and we definitely need it!!! Not tremendous rain, but we'll take anything we can get!

@wonderfulworld - going to be cooler here in Indiana - just took my window A/C out of my bedroom - want to enjoy real cool air for a change!  At least for as long as it lasts.
