The co-pilot blamed for deliberately crashing a German airliner into the Alps had concealed an illness from his employers and tore up a doctor's note that called for him to go on medical leave on the day of the tragedy, according to a statement from German prosecutors.
Police found the medical certificate and other documents during a search Thursday at the Duesseldorf home of Andreas Lubitz, the 27-year-old Germanwings co-pilot.
If Andreas was depressed and had a history..WHY was he hired?? I also think he was too young to be responsible for 148 people..maybe its because I have a 26yo son. I can see wrongful death lawsuits against Lufthansa! I remember when John Kennedy Jr.died, his wife's family filed a suit against his estate for the loss of their twin daughters. He was warned not to fly that night, but he didn't listen. Three lives were lost! I never gave a thought to flying..things are so different now! What about all the drones now, too, causing worry for the pilots??

Articles I read stressed it was a medical condition and the doctor would NOT release the info because of patient privacy.
IMO, when someone has committed a serious crime, like killing more than 150 people, the info should be released, especially if that person is dead.

Emmysmom,
Are you aware that FAA rules for commercial pilots in the U.S. set the minimum age at 18?

It is just as likely that the medical condition was something progressive and he felt this flight was possibly the last one he would be allowed to make. He may not have given a single thought to the passengers just made the decision that if he could no longer fly he no longer wanted to live and chose to die doing what he loved most.
