The high price is probably some type of marketing strategy.

I buy these items at Costco and always have them in my pantry. I can add to them to make my own mix if I choose. Raisins, nuts, dried fruit.....

Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oatmeal, 10 lb/ 2 bags

Bob's Red Mill Organic Quick Cooking Steel Cut Oats, 7 lbs

Sun Maid Organic California Sun Dried Raisins, 2 lbs, 2 count

I don’t eat much cereal, but one I really like is a Special K one and I can’t even recall the name of it but it has nuts and fruit in it...very good but way too expensive. The box is small so only a few servings...maybe if I see a coupon. This new Morning Summit would t appeal to me even if I didn’t know the price. Too much sugar, etc.

Every so often I indulge in some cereal. It is always Post's " Great Grains with pecans."  You can get it with raisins or dried cranberries, but I prefer just the added nuts. The specs are pretty good for cereal, and the 3/4 cup with some unsweetened almond milk is quite satisfying, and no where near as expensive as the cereal mentioned in the OP.

I buy the Great Grains Instant Oatmeal.

I have to say, that it is some of the best oatmeal that I've had that way. Smiley Happy

Costco has an exclusive deal with General Mills, that's why it's just $13 there.

Almonds are the first ingredient in the list, hence the fat content.  Almond fat is mostly heart-healthy, mono-unsaturated fat.  They are also loaded with anti-oxidants.  At least almonds are good for you.  Other ingredients include dried cherries, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, and whole grain cereal flakes (nearly 1/3 of the recommended daily whole grain allowance).

Would I pay $13/box? Perhaps, to try it. Also, I would eat it sparingly over plain yogurt, or a handful of it as a late afternoon pick me up instead of a sweet treat or coffee.

But the  other retailers selling it at $24 & up? No.

Re: General Mills Cereal

[ Edited ]

There is a market to sell anything, and someone to buy it.

I did not look closely at the ingredients. They should be organic and non-GMO.

I really do not see a market for this cereal. The people who would buy this have many healthy options for breakfast.

An average box of cereal costs nearly $6.00. Walmart price of $13.00 is fair for this calorie dense cereal. You probably  could get a similar product at a health food store or Whole Foods.

I've always sprinkled walnuts and/or sliced almonds on my dry Wheat Chex every morning.  Cheap.   I cannot believe the price of this cereal.
